Transforming our formation
If you ask me about my work field, the psychology, I
would say it's every day more important in our society, but the reason of this,
in my opinion, is sad and worrying. I mean that, today, psychologist are very
demanded professionals principally in western societies because of the increase
of mental illness, as depression, and the negative consequences of stress.
Personally, I think all these things have to do with our economic and political system,
which is made to make people overwork and compete among them.
In that context, today I'm going to tell you which changes I would like to make in my study program, with the purpose of transforming our formation as future professionals. All this in order to re-think the psychology as a discipline useful to read critically our reality and not only to make people feel better with strategies that individualize problems which have their roots in the structure of this society.
So, in first place, I think our discipline should
have a new and more critical focus, in where psychological problems be seen
like responses to the situation of exploitation in which live most of the
people, and not as individual problems or illness. In second place, I think
those changes would get materialized by removing some courses that are not
contingent or useful to face the current problems of our people, and adding new
courses in which we could co-work with people in real contexts. In third place,
so, I think we should have more professional practice time, because currently
we only have one practice in the last semester of our career, which I think is
insufficient to learn the skills we’re going to need in the future if we want
to be good professionals.
Finally,
I think it’s important to think our formation process is moment in which is
supposed we’re learning things that we’re going to use in the future, so we
should be protagonist of the transformation of our study program if we want
things to change.
So, which
course would you like to remove of our study program if you could? Why?

I do not know if I would eliminate a course. But I do think that just as there is psychiatry, we should have antipsychiatry. To get a wider look.
ResponderEliminarI like the social and systemic vision that you put in the work of psychology. Just a while ago I was thinking about how psychological therapy is individualizing. But is it necessary that it be given in that way so that a person can change? Well, it's debatable. Every person is a world.

Hi, I haven't thought about a course I would eliminate, so maybe one of the general formation, because sometimes I feel they're extra weight to the program
ResponderEliminarI think you're right about the practices and the individualization but I don't know what course to eliminate
